Bethesda House was established in 2016 and is located on the South Shore of Massachusetts. While Bethesda House is located off-cape, The Alliance is supporting it because they have already welcomed a young single mom and her baby from the Hyannis area. Bethesda House gave her the opportunity to escape an environment that was unhealthy for mother and baby, and is assisting the mom in developing life, parenting, and work skills that will enable her to support herself and her baby. The Alliance continues to seek local non-profits on the Cape similarly dedicated to serving young mom’s and their children with a model designed to nurture them to the point where they are able to support themselves.
Bethesda House is a home that can offer eight mothers a safe place to stay, where each mother shares a single room with her child. They connect these young women with an educational plan so when they leave, they have the necessary skills and knowledge to be self-sufficient. They help them work out all the details in order to make this possible, from accessing benefits, to child care and transportation, and financial aid. They also teach parenting and life skills to help them be the best mom they can be and to be capable of seeking gainful employment. They provide them with the love and support they need as a new mother. Women interested in living at Bethesda House are invited to complete their simple online application at https://bethesdahousema.org/pregnant-parenting-moms/residential-application/ or, call or text 781-361-2418.
